Honoring our Drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2018

September 28, 2018

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2018 was September 9 – 15 and we held events to show appreciation for our driver teammates.

Every year the transportation industry comes together to celebrate its members who keep things moving – the drivers. The American Trucking Associations hosts the annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week event and it was celebrated September 9 – 15 this year. We celebrated the event throughout our network with fun events to spend time with our drivers and thank them for their hard work. As a token of our appreciation we gave each driver teammate a backpack with an embroidered Red Classic logo. Thank you to all of our teammates who made these celebrations possible!

For those not behind the steering wheel of a tractor trailer, it can be easy to take for granted all of the work that drivers put in every day. Drivers encounter traffic and road construction throughout the day and are working when most of us are still asleep. For those who drive long-haul routes, they also spend time away from home and loved ones. Their sacrifices keep the economy moving so our communities can function normally. They make it possible for hospitals and schools to have the supplies they need, for grocery store shelves to be stocked and for retailers’ warehouses to have product moving in and out. In times of need after natural disasters, like Hurricane Florence, truck drivers are there to bring food, water and supplies to rebuild the community.

While National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2018 has passed, there’s never a wrong time of year to thank a driver for their efforts. Whether it’s directly saying “Thank you!” to a driver you know or making it easier and safer for them to share the road with you (like staying out of a truck’s blind spots and increasing your following distance behind them), we encourage everyone to show appreciation for America’s truck drivers.
