Saluting America’s Heroes this Veterans Day

November 8, 2018

Veterans Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices U.S. servicemen and women have made and thank them for their efforts. Red Classic is an avid supporter of veterans, and we are excited to share how we support our military and their families.

114 — that’s approximately how many veterans are employed at Red Classic. That’s 114 men and women who answered the call of duty by leaving the comfort of home to serve our country. They’ve spent weeks and months at a time away from their families to ensure our families could be safe at home. This Veterans Day we want to acknowledge these outstanding individuals at our company along with U.S. veterans nationwide.

Our stewardship committee organizes many events throughout the year to support our communities. Multiple events in 2018 focused on veterans and those on active duty.

Back in July at our corporate headquarters we assembled 100 care packages for USO of North Carolina. These care packages included toiletries, a handwritten note of thanks from Red Classic employees and a picture frame to hold photos of loved ones, all in a handy drawstring backpack. These care packages were then distributed to servicemen and women at the Charlotte airport who were embarking on deployment.

Then in August we assisted with renovations to the headquarters of Purple Heart Homes in Denver, NC. Purple Heart Homes supports disabled veterans by modifying their homes to suit their needs and providing opportunities for home ownership. We’ve worked with Purple Heart Homes several times over the years, and it’s warmed our hearts knowing our small deeds could bring comfort and joy to veterans. We’ve also donated a trailer, van and pickup truck to aid in their operations so they can help even more families.

In October, we held our third annual Fishing with Heroes event in Cross, SC, at Black’s Fish Camp. Local veterans were invited to participate in a fishing competition on Santee Cooper. Many of them also invited their families to join in the fun for a cookout after the tournament. Many smiles and laughs were shared on the water and over a meal on that sunny Saturday!

Year-round we also show our support for veterans and men and women in the U.S. military by using patriotic-themed equipment.

This week, we invite everyone to join us in thanking veterans for their service. Whether it’s a family member, friend, neighbor, coworker or stranger, take a moment to have a conversation with a veteran and share your gratitude with them.
